Military Axis Personnel
Hypothermia experiments
Experiments made to find out the human limit for cold, in order to help the Nazis be better prepared for the Eastern Front. The experiments themselves were in two parts - first to establish the time required to lower the body temperature to death, and the second to test methods of restoring consciousness to the frozen victims. The victims are most often put in ice water or left naked in the cold. |
High altitude experiments
Used to investigate the human limits in high altitude, the victims are placed in a low-pressurized chambers to stimulate high altitudes. Able to up stimulate air pressure up to 68,000 feet, the chambers adjust the pressure. The experiment being extremely dangerous, many victims suffered injuries from the exposure to these environments, and many died as a result. |
Saltwater experiments
As an experiment to test if saltwater could be made drinkable, many of the Romani people were subjected to live off saltwater alone, not receiving any other rations. The victims suffered diarrhea, convulsions, hallucinations, and more often than not, death. In order to gather data, the victims were also punctured at the liver or the spine, and most were tortured as well. |
Illness Treatments
Immunization compounds tested the prevention of treatments, such as Malaria, Typhus, Tuberculosis, Typhoid fever, Yellow Fever, and many more. However good their intentions are, the Nazi method was highly unethical, as they injected their victims with the bacteria as research.
Racial Worldview Experiments
The Nazis also conducted many racial-based experiments. Josef Mengele, chose Romani twins to experiment on, often trying to stimulate conjoined twins by sewing two together, or injecting pigments to see if their eye colors will change. The Nazis conducted research on every 'race' and their diseases, attempting to sterilize the other racial groups in an attempt to preserve their 'perfect' race.
